I have pretty much stopped posting examples of stupid, ignorant closed captioning created by even more ignorant speech recognition and artificial intelligence. I stopped because the automated systems used today are just so incompetent that I could spend the rest of my natural life as well as my afterlife citing examples of its errors. However, since we live in Naples, Fla., I’m posting this one of the incredibly horrible way to spell the name of the nearby town of Immokalee. The closed captioning in a YouTube video spells it the way you see in the photo taken of my tee-vee: “Imicali.” Really? “Imicali.” So, ignorance shines through with this type of technology. Sigh. I got the shot this morning (Monday, April 27, 2026).
