Welcome back to my blog. Here’s my recommendation of a movie to check out today and hope you punch your “Ticket to the Movies!” OK, let me close out my “Ocean’s” recommendations with my review of the second sequel to the reboot of the original: “Ocean’s Thirteen” that returns stars George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Matt Damon.

I’ve already recommended the original O11 with Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr. as well as the reboot “Ocean’s Eleven” from 2001 from director Steven Soderberg and starring George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Matt Damon. I try not to mention the execrable first sequel to the reboot: “Ocean’s Twelve” … and I’m not giving a link to it.

With “Ocean’s Thirteen,” you have George, Brad and Matt and their gang returning to Las Vegas to avenge their financier played by Elliott Gould, who stroked out when he got stabbed in the back on a business deal with a cheating, egotistical casino owner played by Al Pacino.

Instead of the previous female leads (the overrated Julia Roberts in the reboot and the talentless Catherine Zeta-Jones in the first sequel to the reboot), for “Ocean’s Thirteen” you get the wonderfully talented Ellen Barkin, who plays Pacino’s efficient casino manager.
So, the caper plays out with the same supporting cast of gang members: Carl Reiner as “Saul Bloom;” Eddie Jemison as “Livingston Dell;” Don Cheadle as “Basher Tarr;” Bernie Mac as “Frank Catton;” Shaobo Qin as “Yen;” and Scott Caan and Casey Affleck as the bickering brothers “Turk and Virgil Malloy.”
You don’t need any more information about the details of the caper in“Ocean’s Thirteen,” since, just as with all the others, the crime itself is outlandishly farfetched and strains everyone’s disbelief.
So, I say punch your “Ticket to the Movies!” and watch “Ocean’s Thirteen.” It is often available on broadcast services or to stream as part of a subscription on several services as well as being available to rent on others. So, find it! Watch it! Don’t worry, you’ll thank me later (maybe, or maybe not) for “Ocean’s Thirteen.”
