Today’s “must” movie is “Caddyshack II” and you need to watch this one so you can tell friends you witnessed one of the worst movies ever filmed; ever released to the public; and is the sequel to a legendary comedy flick. “Caddyshack II” also has the most embarrassing effort in the career of a comedy legend.
“Caddyshack II” picks up where the original left off: It’s the rich versus the hoi polloi, except in this horrific movie no one wins (especially the audience). In fact, a lot of the creative team of the original came up with this stinker, including turning the golf course into a putt-putt effort (I guess it looked good on paper).
Jackie Mason takes over from Rodney Dangerfield as the blunderbuss that invades the country club. Oh, by the way, Dangerfield flat-out refused to do “Caddyshack II” … and it was a great decision.
The worst decision by an actor was by Dan Aykroyd, who manages to put a blot on his career (even to today, 35 years after “Caddyshack II’s” release) with doing a character in ways that are too terrible to be imagined. Nearly as bad is Chevy Chase, who returns to the country club, but manages to disgrace himself instead of boosting his career as he did with the original.
So, find “Caddyshack II” so that you can see Hollyweird at its worst. I guarantee it!
