Welcome back to my blog. Here’s my recommendation of a movie to check out today and hope you punch your “Ticket to the Movies!” OK, let’s dive back into the world of “Bond, James Bond” with “GoldenEye” as Pierce Brosnan deals out an excellent effort in his first turn as “007.”
Personally, I’d say Brosnan gets undeservedly bad marks from many fans of “007.” He simply is an excellent “James Bond.” With “GoldenEye,” you also get the marvelously talented Judi Dench as Brosnan’s boss “M;” Izabella Scorupco as the intelligent and tough Russian computer expert “Natalya Simonova;” Sean Bean as traitor “Alec Trevelyan;” and Robbie Coltrane as a former KGB agent with a grudge against Brosnan, but who helps him anywhere.

Oh, she doesn’t bring anything to the espionage plot, but a youngish Minnie Driver, who is the girlfriend of Coltrane, and she butchers singing the song “Stand By Your Man” and Brosnan asks the former KGB agent, “Who’s strangling the cat?” 😊 Driver doesn’t do much with the character, but also make a wonderful vulgar arm gesture! A tiny role to remember!

In any case, “GoldenEye” has all the traditional elements of a “007” film: International locales; threaten the world plot; and the world’s most famous spy doing exactly what he does best – save the planet while enjoying himself!

“GoldenEye” also has one of the best chase scenes you’ll find in any “James Bond” film: It features Brosnan pursuing the bad guys by driving a Russian T-55 main battle tank through city streets, demolishing everything in its path.
Oh, the plot of “GoldenEye” is about a Russian space-based weapon that has been hijacked and threatens … just about everybody. “GoldenEye,” which was released in 1995 and had its 30th anniversary this past November.
So, I say punch your “Ticket to the Movies!” and watch “GoldenEye.” Today, it is available on Netflix and Amazon’s Prime and can be rented at two other streaming services. So, find it! Watch it! Don’t worry, you’ll thank me later for “GoldenEye.” Without any doubt, “Yes, you will!”
