The most frequent visitor to our camera-equipped BirdBuddy bird feeder has been grackles – both boat-tailed grackles (Quiscalus major) and the common grackle (Quiscalus quiscula). Every morning my iPhone gives me a notification that something is visiting the bird feeder outside the patio of our home here in Naples, Fla., and it is most often a grackle, as you see here in a photo captured from the livefeed this morning (Sunday, June 28, 2026). We’ve also had blue jays (Cyanocitta cristata); an American mourning dove (Zenaida macroura); both a male and female northern cardinal (Cardinalis cardinalis); a red-bellied woodpecker (Melanerpes carolinus); and a house finch (Haemorhous mexicanus).
