Since it is June 29 in 2026, that means it is national Camera Day! Each June 29 has been designated to honor the camera and all that it has meant for creativity and historical rendering. Unfortunately, in 2026, technology has reduced all camera images (that is, still images) to being suspect as having been altered. Of course, video has also suffered with the leap in artificial intelligence programs that allow the creation of lifelike images and videos to fool unsuspecting folks. In any case, I have a few “old” cameras, including as you can see in this absolutely true image: A 1970s-era Canon AE-1 SLR body (no lens); a Nikon D3200 DSLR body (no lens); a Nikon Coolpix (internal lens); and a Sony Cyber-shot (internal lens). Also, you see my favorite Nikon D5200 DSLR with an 18-200mm lens. Also, my iPhone was used to take this image today (June 29, 2026) and its convenience makes it my workhorse camera for daily use.
