The second-most frequent type of visitor to our “smart” bird feeder are American mourning doves (Zenaida macroura). Here are two views of the same visitor from yesterday (Wednesday, July 15, 2026) at our home here in Naples, Fla. our most common type of visitor are a boat-tailed grackles (Quiscalus major). Our BirdBuddy bird feeder has a camera and is available to livestream whenever something trips the motion-sensor within its camera. In addition to the mourning doves and grackles, the visitors have been both a male and female northern cardinal (Cardinalis cardinalis); a red-bellied woodpecker (Melanerpes carolinus); a house finch (Haemorhous mexicanus); and a blue jay (Cyanocitta cristata).
