Welcome back to my blog. Here’s my recommendation of a movie to check out today and hope you punch your “Ticket to the Movies!” OK, we’re at the end of July 2026, my recommendation is “Jingle All the Way” because I’m joining those websites and networks that do “Christmas in July!”
“Jingle All the Way” is what I consider one of the most underrated Christmas films since 1960. “Jingle All the Way” stars Arnold Schwarzenegger as the dense, harried father who forgets to by his son the hottest Christmas present of the season: An action figure called “Turbo Man!”
The supporting cast is stellar with Sinbad being Arnie’s nemesis in a personal competition to get a “Turbo Man” figure, but you also have Phil Hartman as the sexed-up neighbor who wants to get into Schwarzenegger’s wife’s pants; a small role by Jim Belushi as a mall “Santa” peddling counterfeit “Turbo Mans;” and tee-vee legend Robert Conrad as a longsuffering cop who dogs Arnie’s tracks throughout “Jingle All the Way.”
The final cast members worth mentioning is Rita Wilson as Arnie’s wife (in a performance as I wrote in my full review as giving “a somewhat less than lukewarm performance”) and Martin Mull as a befuddled radio DJ doing a much better job than Wilson.
“Jingle All the Way” is a series of vignettes of Schwarzenegger speeding around town to find the toy that is totally unavailable. I’m not going to spoil any more scenes, but the ending dives off the board into fantasy worthy of any Christmas flick.
So, I say punch your “Ticket to the Movies!” and watch “Jingle All the Way.” It is available for rent via a variety of streaming platforms. You will thank me later when you watch “Jingle All the Way” today!
