Today (Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2026) is the first day of the 2026-2027 school year. The top two photos in this collage shows the entrance to Pelican Marsh Elementary school – the top one at 7:38 a.m. and the middle one about 45 minutes later. The top one shows the Collier County Sheriff’s Office unmarked traffic enforcement unit on station and the middle photo shows the school entrance with flashing lights and a school bus pulling out of the property. The bottom photo shows a CCSO deputy on traffic enforcement near the First Baptist Academy, which had its first day back-to-school last week. I was driving near our home here in Naples, Fla., and took these images from my dashcam. (Remember: Click on the small image for a bigger version – then click on that one for the full-size photo.)
