I finally captured an image of an eastern gray squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis) in our BirdBuddy smart bird feeder at our home here in Naples, Fla. While we’ve had some infrequent visitors, such as northern cardinals (Cardinalis cardinalis) or a house finch (Haemorhous mexicanus), today is the day (Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026) for capturing my first image of a squirrel. I captured this image off the BirdBuddy app via my iPhone.
