Well, I have to write something about this blog today. In the just over 14 months I’ve been posting to this blog, I received my 12,000th page view on Sunday, Aug. 9, 2015. With today’s posting of two photos and this blurb, I have had 1,188 total posts of stories and photos to “A Gator in Naples.” Included in that total is 286 movie reviews and 16 other film-related opinion pieces (such as little-remembered films or bad sequels) and hundreds of photos we’ve taken on our trips to Walt Disney World.
I do not do this blog for attention, but I have enjoyed seeing visitors from across the globe. Although the vast majority of the page views come from the United States (more than 10,000 of the 12,000 total), I have still had visitors from more than 90 countries, according to the WordPress.com statistics page. I didn’t post this story yesterday or Sunday when the blog got its 12,000th page view because I had movie reviews already scheduled and didn’t want to interrupt the flow.
So, the reason I do posts to this blog is that it is something fun to do. So, I thank everyone who has visited (or will visit or see this story today or in the archives). I am most proud of my movie reviews and here are links to two of my old favorites: “Kelly’s Heroes” with Clint Eastwood and “The Day of the Jackal” plus a recent one, “Zombieland.” I used the “Kelly’s Heroes” original movie poster as featured art on this story.
