A big strikeout for the idiot calendar maker on May 1

The idiots who put together this desk calendar for 2018 outdid themselves on the May 1 entry. First, there’s an obvious error – wrong day for the anniversary of a perfect game pitched in baseball – and then there’s the less-obvious mistake of how many years until the next was pitched. What morons! Here are the real facts: Charlie Robertson of the Chicago White Sox pitched a perfect game on April 30, 1922 (not May 1) and while another perfect game was pitched 46 years later (by Oakland’s James Augustus “Catfish” Hunter in 1968), the true NEXT one was in the 1956 World Series by the Yankees’ Don Larsen. If you say only regular seasons count, then it was Philadelphia’s Jim Bunning in 1964. So, a big strikeout for the idiot calendar maker on May 1, 2018.
