My alphabetical posting of suggested films continues today with “The Taking of Pelham One Two Three.” Here’s an excellent film from the ’70s that had an OK “reboot” 35 years later in 2009. “Pelham One Two Three” (you can tell the original because it spells out the numbers) is about the hijacking of a … subway car. And that’s the spot from which all the mystery abounds. “Pelham One Two Three” has a great top-of-cast with Walter Matthau and Robert Shaw and solid supporting work. “Pelham One Two Three” isn’t saturated with the f-bomb cavalcade of the remake, but that’s not why it’s better. “Pelham One Two Three” doesn’t force anything.
I’m posting all my film reviews in alphabetical order and I’ve updated links and more on many of the reviews. Below is the link back to the full review.
