Memorial Day is a solemn anniversary for the United States. It is a day to remember those members of the country’s military who gave their lives is service to the U.S. However, it is also a weekend with two of the biggest automobile races of the year: Our iconic and world-renowned Indianapolis 500 and the glamorous, international Formula One race called the Monaco Grand Prix. For me on Memorial Day weekend Sunday of 2019, it was hot tea with lemon, the Indy 500 and Monaco on Sunday, May 26, 2019. For the record, Lewis Hamilton won at Monaco and Simon Pagenaud took the checkered flag at Indy. The largest photo shows my tumbler of tea and a screenshot from of one of two Ferrari entries before the start of the F1 race at Monaco and the other two show pre-start and action on an early lap of the Indy 500. Interesting: An Englishman won the oh-so-French GP of Monaco and a Frenchman won the Indy 500! Quite a day … all made possible for everyone by the sacrifices made by all the respective countries’ military.
