My movie suggestion today is … to watch “The Odessa File.” Here’s a nice flick adapted from Frederick Forsyth’s second best-seller of the same name. “The Odessa File” as a film is just like the movie adaptations of Forsyth’s first novel (“The Day of the Jackal”) and the third (“The Dogs of War”). The first movie is the gold standard of adaptation of an intricate novel to film, while the third is simply crap (although the novel is excellent and on par with Forsyth’s best works). “The Odessa File” is in between – it’s not great and Jon Voight sometimes sounds like a failed audition at a dinner theater, but it is watchable and doesn’t insult you in any way. In fact, most of the acting is top-notch or … well, just a notch below.
So, I’m doing a sometimes recommendation of a movie or TV show … and they’re all movies or TV shows that I’ve reviewed on this blog. Below is the link back to the original review.
