My alphabetical posting of suggested films is updated today … to watch “Ice Station Zebra.” Here’s a ’60s “action” flick that stars Rock Hudson and is reputed to have been Howard Hughes’ favorite movie (he reportedly bought a Las Vegas TV station simply so he could order it to play “Ice Station Zebra”). However, this isn’t a good flick at just about all levels. However, “Ice Station Zebra” is the fault of legendary director John Sturges, who mailed in this effort. He managed to ruin a creative story; didn’t get anything from a solid cast; and just managed to do nothing but ultimately impress Mr. Hughes. Still, you’ll want to check out “Ice Station Zebra” simply for the filmmaking of the time and its backstories.
