Try this flick … “L.A. Confidential.” BTW … don’t “try” this one. Watch it. Now. Immediately. Even if it is the fifth, sixth or tenth time you’ll have seen it. “L.A. Confidential” is American cinema at a near-peak. It’s not “The Godfather” (which is the best of American cinema and you can watch it over and over) and doesn’t pack the gut-punch of “The Deer Hunter” (a film you might only see once), but it is a visceral, sledge-hammer blow as you watch the noir-cops story unfold. “L.A. Confidential” was taken from the outstanding novel of the same name and is a great adaptation. So, get out there and watch “L.A. Confidential” again. I write “again” because I know you’ve seen it before.
So, I’m doing a sometimes recommendation of a movie or TV show … and they’re all movies or TV shows that I’ve reviewed on this blog.
