Closed captioning errors hit a new low by screwing up song lyrics

OK, now errors in closed captioning have reached a new low. Here’s one from the comedy classic flick “Animal House.” A hit song is being played – “Twistin’ the Night Away” written and recorded by Sam Cooke – and instead of translating the lyric as “the young and old,” the idiotic closed captioning has it as “hole in one.” Sigh and double sigh. Really? “Hole in one?” I can understand closed captioning having an error when transcribing live programming, but for movies and TV shows? Sad to see such incompetence. I got this shot while watching “Animal House” early in the morning of July 16, 2020, at our home here in Naples, Fla.
