Watch It! So, what to recommend today? I give an unequivocal “Watch It!” to Burt Reynolds in “Smokey and the Bandit.” It reportedly was one of legendary director Alfred Hitchcock’s guilty pleasures and “Smokey and the Bandit” affected General Motors even in reruns as its airings boosted sales of the Pontiac Firebird Trans Am (especially those in black). Of course, “Smokey and the Bandit” is about a good ol’ boy who gets a bet, drives a car fast and … ah, who cares? I just like seeing Burt being Burt and he does it well in this one. So, don’t delay … there’s just one thing to do with “Smokey and the Bandit” … Watch It!
