Watch It! So, what to recommend today? Let’s go horror today with “Scanners.” You probably remember the film only for the scene with a man’s head exploding. “Scanners” is a sci-fi classic and cult fav mostly because of that scene, but there’s a lot more to the film. “Scanners” is the story of people who developed psychic powers because of a drug taken by their mothers during pregnancy. Now, there’s a group of “scanners” and corporate America is trying to reign them in. “Scanners” is by David Cronenberg and is terrifically creative, but it has lots of flaws and at times it is difficult to watch – and not because of the gore. “Scanners” isn’t very well made and only a couple of actors do an acceptable job, but this one is too much of a classic to miss.
