A blazing sunrise illuminated this bloom on our special hibiscus plant at our home here in Naples, Fla., on Feb. 20, 2021. I’m just getting around to posting the photo because … well, basically I forgot it was in my iPhone! I got the shot because I saw the hibiscus being hit perfectly and wanted to capture the moment. The sun’s rays give a somewhat blazing, surreal color to the bloom. The bloom is special because my cousin gave it to us in 2004 at my mother’s funeral. It will have been growing in this same spot for 17 years this coming May.
