Watch It! Football season’s over, but I say watch “Necessary Roughness,” not for football, but because it is a neat little comedy. Football season never really ends with college recruiting, the NFL draft and the rest in the “off season.” “Necessary Roughness” is the story of a college team gutted after it got caught cheating. Now, the new “straight arrow” head coach must field a team of … gasp! Students! Ha! “Necessary Roughness” does some stereotypes, from the team playing a squad from the state prison, a woman who joins the team and, of course, overcoming all obstacles. However, the cast makes up for this by being modestly great from Scott Bakula, Hector Elizondo and Robert Loggia – and let’s not forget Sinbad or supermodel Kathy Ireland, who is the supermodel-beautiful kicker. PS: Don’t get this confused with a decent TV series of the same name … it, too, is watchable, but it’s not the movie. So, get back into a football frame of mind with “Necessary Roughness” and … just Watch It!
