Watch It! Let’s have a “Beach Party!” Here’s the first of five beach movies with Frankie (Avalon) and Annette (Funicello) and the first is always best. “Beach Party” is the story of high schoolers on summer vacation who like to surf and then drink beer and eat pie at a bar (yes, teenagers could drink legally in those days … as well as eat pie). However, “Beach Party” is more the story of Bob Cummings as a professor studying teenagers’ amorous habits (apparently, that was legal, too, back then). He’s assisted by the delightful Dorothy Malone and these two actors make up for the many deficiencies of “Beach Party.” Another actor worth watching in this one is Morey Amsterdam as the owner of “Big Daddy’s,” which is bar where the high schoolers hang out. I’m mostly mocking with the age of the “kids” and what they do, but, don’t worry … “Beach Party” is actually a summer fluff film you can watch. So, find it quickly and … Watch It!
