Watch It! As crime films go, “Dillinger” from 1973 is just OK. Here’s a film that looks like a TV movie, but has a top-shelf cast including three Oscar winners. “Dillinger” is the story of legendary bank robber John Dillinger and tells his story right to his ultimate demise. “Dillinger” doesn’t do much in the dramatic category, although several actors do a solid job. From Warren Oates playing the title character to Oscar winners Ben Johnson, Cloris Leachman and (a young) Richard Dreyfuss, you get a nice cast with “Dillinger.” Both Oates and Johnson are workmanlike with their characters, but the overall product comes up way short of where it should have brought the audience. Still, “Dillinger” is worth your time, so … Watch It!
