Today, May 22, 2021, is the seventh anniversary of my blog that I call “A Gator in Naples.” I’ve been blessed with people from many countries viewing my blog (169 at last count yesterday) and I’ve received 98,055 page views by 53,288 individual visitors as the posting of this blog entry on the morning of May 22, 2021.
I’m taking a moment today to write, “Thank You!” I’ve posted this before on my blog on its anniversary, but I want to post it again. I get most of my page views from searches … mainly for the 362 movie reviews that I’ve written (or the 33 other reviews of TV shows or “specials” such as my take on the iconic TV series “The Love Boat”). The very first post I made on the blog is my review of “The Warriors,” which is an iconic gang flick from 1979.
Sometimes the search is for a topic. I’ve posted 2,498 photos that myself and my family have taken at Walt Disney World here in our home state of Florida. I’ve compiled 22 galleries of photos from WDW.

I get hits about WDW topics all the time: some for a specific ride; a specific location; or about a specific character. The majority of my other photos include sunsets, sunrises, at my favorite library branch and … contrails!
The single biggest day for my blog was Feb. 28, 2018, when it received 2,109 page views (mostly from a “spider” program that swiped a bunch of my WDW photos). No, my blog doesn’t get the mega-sized number of page views that so many sites do, but I’m proud of what interest is shown by those who find their way to my blog.
The most popular day for my blog is Thursday and the time … about noon.
As a historical note, I started this blog as a way to learn the WordPress platform. From there, it soon became a daily posting of a movie review (I started out with “old” flicks and then it snowballed from there) and a photo from WDW. Now, seven years later, it’s become a daily part of my life.

I’ve taken a couple of sabbaticals, but none have lasted very long (I believe 14 days is my record).
Here’s a roundup of those who’ve visited from across the globe:
Countries: 169
Most views: The United States, followed by the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, India (who has move up in recent months) and Germany. Those are followed by France, Brazil, Spain, Mexico and the Philippines.
I have never received a hit from any computer in: Greenland, Cuba, French Guiana in South America, 14 north-central African nations (sub-Sahara; stretching from Atlantic to Indian Ocean), Lesotho in southern Africa; Madagascar; Iran; Turkmenistan; Bhutan; Tadzhikistan; or North Korea.
So, there you have it! A state of the blog on “A Gator in Naples” on its seventh anniversary. Oh, of course … I named the blog “A Gator in Naples” because I am an alumnus of the best university in my home state: the University of Florida. Click here for all my photos of everything UF … and Go Gators!
Again, thank you!
