Watch it! A movie today? ‘Death Wish’ is actually a wonderfully dramatic film

Watch It! You probably remember “Death Wish” as nothing but a film where Charles Bronson guns down mugger after mugger. Well, check your memory. “Death Wish” is an exceptional motion picture that examines the issue of guns and violence with depth and philosophical meanderings. “Death Wish” isn’t just some Bronson “shoot-’em-up” and he does a career best with is acting in this one. You might want to pass on the attack on Bronson’s family at the beginning (it is a rough, rough ride … and features Jeff Goldblum as “Freak #1” in his first acting credit) as this is a nasty scene. In any case, the supporting cast of “Death Wish” is highlighted by Stuart Margolin, who gifts the gun that will so change New York politics in the 1970s! Forget the incompetent reboot, the original “Death Wish” is so much more than just violence … it is pretty much an examination of then-and-now on the issue of guns and protecting yourself that it is almost eerie. So … Watch It!
