I came across another TV show episode where the characters talk about “whipping” a child who has done wrong. Here are two scenes I photographed on our television as I replayed the episode on June 27, 2021, here in Naples, Fla. It was an episode of “Adam-12” (season 4 | ep 7 titled “Truant”) and the man you see talking about a “whipping” his son’s going to be getting, is a good father; a mailman who insists he’ll instill good values in his child – unlike the woman in the background who blames the police for bringing in her malcontent son. The second is a woman victimized by a pair of truants and she hope’s they’ll be “whipped” at home. I’m all for respect of others, law and order and being good citizens, but all the “whipping” talk is a little disconcerting today.
