Watch it! A movie today? ‘The Gumball Rally’ is as good today as it was 45 years ago

Watch It! “The Gumball Rally” is one of my all-time favorite films and it celebrates its 45th anniversary today (July 28, 2021). Although it was released in Canada five days before, “The Gumball Rally’s” anniversary date (or any other film, for that matter) is when it had its premiere in the United States. “The Gumball Rally” is a fictionalized telling of an unofficial cross-country car race in which teams drive from New York to California … in about 26 hours of high-speed driving. “The Gumball Rally” is not the Burt Reynolds film(s) that more accurately name the race, but it is head-and-shoulders above Burt’s effort(s). Of course, in “The Gumball Rally” you get to know the drivers and team members and … well, it’s all fun and games. I can’t say why I’ve enjoyed watching “The Gumball Rally” dozens of times over those 45 years, but I have and will continue to do so. Do you need me to write it again … GO AND … Watch It!
