The perils of print publication remain in this so-called “digital age” as we see with the cover of the current People magazine. The publication touts legendary entertainer Betty White reaching her 100th birthday. Sadly and a loss for us all, Betty passed at 99 on Dec. 31, 2021, and didn’t reach her 100th on Jan. 17, 2022. Of course, print magazines are published in advance, but, obviously, People didn’t make sure that what’s on its cover is accurate. Even though they didn’t expect her death before 100 at the time, it’s a simple formula: You don’t print something that’s not true. Once upon a time, a publication wouldn’t have done such a maneuver and waited until she actually hit 100. However, today is today and all kinds of fools continue to make these kinds of ignorant decisions. RIP to Betty … you were one-in-a-million and we’ll miss your wit, grace and talent. I took this photo Jan. 1, 2022, at our nearby Publix supermarket here in Naples, Fla. (Remember: Click on the small image for a bigger version – then click on that one for the full-size photo.)
