Looking on the big screen at your home today, try out “Streets of Fire” from 1984. Here is a film that is the self-promoted “Rock & Roll Fable,” but, while the music is sensational, the film comes up short. “Streets of Fire” is set in “another time, another place” and tries to blend the noir filmmaking, music and a young cast into an anti-establishment centerpiece. Alas, it fails and doesn’t come close. The music, which was to be as much a part of “Streets of Fire” as was the soundtrack to “American Graffiti,” just makes punctuation points instead of being part of the flick’s soul. In any case, “Streets of Fire” is at least interesting and has a certain visual verve to offer its audiences.
You’ll have some trouble finding “Streets of Fire” for your “big screen” at home, but don’t give up. It’s out there; just find it!
