On your home big screen: ‘Assault on a Queen’ is a Sinatra caper film

Looking on the big screen at your home today, check out “Assault on a Queen.” Here’s a Frank Sinatra caper flick with the creative twist of robbing an ocean liner with a submarine! “Assault on a Queen” has all the hallmarks of a Sinatra caper flick such as the original “Ocean’s 11” from 1960 (click here for my review): The group is criminal without being nasty; the plot is ridiculous; and the outcome obviously serves up the survival of Sinatra. “Assault on a Queen” is set in the mid-’60s and the gang, which is seeking sunken treasure, find a World War II-era submarine instead. Sinatra manages to float the sub; the gang cleans it up; then they set out on the high seas to intercept the Queen Mary. All-in-all, a good tale told … well, pretty good and more than worth your time.

You’ll have some trouble finding “Assault on a Queen” for your “big screen” at home, but don’t give up. It’s out there; just find it!
