Looking on the big screen at your home today, you might try to find the very impressive 1979 TV movie about a runner in prison called “The Jericho Mile.” It is from Michael Mann, who became the king of cool in the ’80s through TV’s iconic “Miami Vice,” brought this film to the little screen and it is a little-remembered gem. In “The Jericho Mile,” a convict serving time for murder runs a homemade quarter-mile track around the yard at Folsom prison in California … and he’s fast. Really, really fast. Soon, a prison official works on getting the inmate a shot at making the U.S. national track team. Well, not all works out and there are major bumps in the road for “The Jericho Mile.” In any case, check it out.
You probably will have a lot of trouble finding “The Jericho Mile” for your “big screen” at home. Check all the services … I haven’t had time to do that research for you.
