Looking on the big screen at your home today, let’s go with “Eye of the Needle.” This is a bad film that is set during World War II. “Eye of the Needle” is about a German spy who uncovers the war’s biggest deception: the phony military force under U.S. Gen. George S. Patton that has been seen as proof that the upcoming invasion of Europe will be somewhere other than the real site. “Eye of the Needle” is from the same-titled novel by Ken Follett, but it stinks. It’s an awful movie. The headliners do a terrible job (although Donald Sutherland and Kate Nelligan have talent); the direction is abysmal (although the director’s next film would be the outstanding, hyper-popular “Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi); and the rest of the cast falls as flat as week-old beer (they appear more like rejects from a Monty Python casting call).
Still, “Eye of the Needle” has a lot of things that it is not, but it is actually watchable. So, check it out for your “big screen.” You won’t be disappointed once you find it and watch it.
