Looking on the big screen at your home today, you might consider “Looker,” but not for the nudity. Of course, being from 1981, “Looker” proudly pushed nudity from the beginning as many films did from that era, yet the creativity of the story was left behind because everything with this film was mishandled. “Looker” is the story of models being killed after undergoing surgery for the “perfect” appearance … since they were paid to be scanned and their digital image placed in commercials, etc., as well as even some mind-control elements. Hmmmm, “Looker” proclaimed a future somewhat akin to the “deepfake” videos of today – that is, using computers to alter video. Still, writer-director Michael Crichton fumbles everything and makes sure the most interesting philosophical aspect of the story gets buried with poor direction and wooden acting in “Looker.”
The film will most like make it to a movie channel sometime soon, so keep an eye out for “Looker” for your “big screen.”
