See this guy in the TV teaser? Well, you won’t see him on the show because of ads

I usually post an example of stupidity on television through incompetent closed captioning, but today I’m showing how there’s a sin by omission in syndicated re-runs. Anyone who knows anything about shows in syndication knows that there are more minutes of advertisements in a re-run than in the original show and that, therefore, original content from each show is excised to make room for the extra ads. Ah, well … that’s nothing new. However, you can see images of shows you’ve recorded or that are upcoming on many platforms (including Xfinity in our home here in Naples, Fla.). In this example, you see a picture from a scene in an episode of “Dragnet.” However, if you watch the re-run, you’ll never see this guy. Why? Because his scene was cut to make room for more ads. So, not only does television allow the stupidity of closed captioning errors on an hour-by-hour basis, it also shows an image you won’t see on the program. I got this shot on our home television on Oct. 18, 2022.
