Today, Monday, May 15 is Peace Officers Memorial Day for 2023 as part of Police Week through Saturday. Unfortunately, a number of U.S. flags remain flying at full-staff in our community instead of in the proper fashion as dictated by the proclamation from President Biden that they are to be flown at half-staff today (half-mast on vessels). I got this shot of a properly flown flag at the sales office of the Sienna Lakes community here in Naples, Fla., as I drove home from work on May 15, 2023. Here’s the proclamation: “NOW, THEREFORE, I, JOSEPH R. BIDEN JR., President of the United States of America, do hereby proclaim May 15, 2023, as Peace Officers Memorial Day and May 14 through May 20, 2023, as Police Week.” (Remember: Click on the small image for a bigger version – then click on that one for the full-size photo.)
