Today’s “must” movie is “Hail, Caesar!” from the Coen brothers. “Hail, Caeser!” is both a period piece and a huge slice of Hollywood as patrolled by a studio head and populated by the very strange and very strange happenings.
“Hail, Caesar!” is about a studio head played by Josh Brolin who has to guide a variety of actors through a minefield of happenings – from George Clooney, who plays the headliner of the title movie and is kidnapped by Commie writers, to Scarlett Johansson as the pregnant and angry star of a water musical, to Ralph Fiennes as a stuck-up, angry director. Brolin does a yeoman’s job of keeping his studio on course and the Coen brothers did a yeomen’s job of bringing this ship home.
However, “Hail, Caesar!” is nowhere near perfect and has too much screen time wasted on tedious material that should have been edited out and actually hurt the film and your experience watching it. However, don’t be dismayed by the tedious portions of “Hail, Caesar!” because the full body of the film makes it more than worthwhile.
You won’t have any trouble finding “Hail, Caesar!” So, check it out today! You won’t be disappointed. I guarantee it!
