Today’s “must” movie is first in my annual Christmas(time) countdown of flicks. Today, Dec. 18, 2023, finds us with “Die Hard.” Here’s a “controversial” Christmas flick because a lot of folks don’t believe it should be called one, while just as many believe it should be included in any list. I’m going with the latter and saying, Have a Merry Christmas with “Die Hard.”
Of course, you know the premise behind “Die Hard:” A New York cop (played to spectacular perfection by Bruce Willis) arrives in Los Angeles to try to reconcile with his soon-to-be-ex-wife and winds up tackling a gang of “terrorists” all by himself.
Again of course, not all is as it appears with Willis ultimately finding out that the whole basis for the “terrorist” plot is nothing more than a robbery of a corporate vault that contains millions of dollars worth of bearer bonds. All the bad guys pretty much “Die Hard” and Willis walks away back together with his wife.
As for a Christmas theme, you get the “Christmas in Hollis” song by Run-DMC to set the mood in the beginning and you see a Christmas tree at the big party in the “Nakatomi” building (actually, it is the Fox Plaza). After that, you get violence and more violence … you know, Willis giving the bad guys some Christmas cheer before they “Die Hard!”
