It’s movie time! Watch the original ‘Road House’ if you want to keep down your lunch

Hey everybody, it’s movie time! I’m re-writing the words from the start of a Styx hit song and saying today is “movie time!” For movie time today, let’s watch the original “Road House” with Patrick Swayze, Sam Elliott and Ben Gazzara. We’ll forget the incompetent, unwatchable reboot just out starring a talentless hack and co-starring a mixed martial-arts star and stay with something that won’t cost you your lunch in your lap.

If you ever want to see the best movie, watch the original and not a sequel or so-called “reboot.”

“Road House” is the story of an owner of a violent, nasty saloon who brings in the best-ever “cooler” to rule the house. The “cooler” is Swayze and, as expected, takes control immediately and finds both immediate friends and immediate enemies – especially local crime boss Gazarra and his henchmen.

Swayze calls in his mentor Elliott to the “Road House” and falls in love with a local doctor played by Kelly Lynch and the film progresses as you might expect … initial success, fights with the bad guys, stumbles, failure on the horizon and then the big win at the end.

Sigh.

“Road House” could have been a very special film, but at best you can say it is a watchable but mediocre film.

You won’t have any trouble finding “Road House” with this month’s release of the rebooted piece of crap. Find the original “Road House,” enjoy it and ignore the new one. That’s gonna serve you best … I guarantee it!
