The Collier County Sheriff’s Office traffic unit uses both enforcement and decoys, but, I hate to be critical, they’ve left a decoy unit way too long in one place on one of the area’s busiest highways. Here’s a shot of the decoy vehicle that I got this morning (Sunday, June 30, 2024) and grabbed the image from my vehicle’s cams. The vehicle has been parked in the same spot for more than a couple of weeks and no driver appears to react to it any longer. The CCSO has left decoys too long before on this stretch of highway. What the CCSO does do well at times is having an active unit about a half-mile away and folks get back up over the speed limit and find themselves staring down active radar enforcement.
