Hey everybody, it’s movie time! I’m re-writing the words from the start of a Styx hit song and saying today is “movie time!” For movie time today, let’s watch the remake of “Point Break” from 2015. Actually, let’s watch the original “Point Break” for a much, much better movie.
It was absolutely silly for the remade “Point 2015” to have the changes in the characters. While there is still an FBI agent named “Utah” (Keanu Reeves in the original), instead of a former college football quarterback-turned-eager-agent, the character is a former “extreme sport athlete.” Sigh.
The original’s plot is straightforward: a bunch of surfers rob banks to finance their beachside lifestyle. The FBI wants to catch them. In the sickening remake “Point 2015,” the group is doing some feats to reach a nirvana-like life peak. Yes, that’s right. Sigh and Sigh again.
Actually, that’s about all you need to know about the remake and why you really shouldn’t watch it, despite me saying otherwise in this post. I didn’t care for the cast; its director has a background in cinematography and that’s why the film is beautiful to see, but mostly similar to a uniquely designed toilet; and the storyline is so viciously stupid you have to execute your disbelief, not suspend it.
If you can find “Point 2015” … maybe try it. You’ll hate it … I guarantee it!
