On occasion for a little amusement, I’ll build a model of a World War II-era tank. Here’s one on what passes for my desk at our home here in Naples, Fla. It is a Russian T-34/85 … the “85” representing the caliber of its cannon. The T-34 is the most-produced tank of WWII and the “85” variant, with its enlarged turret to handle the larger cannon than the original design, was brought out after Nazi Germany brought out its Panzer Mk 6 “Tiger” and Panzer Mk 5 “Panther” tanks after the start of the war. I don’t do dioramas or “weathering” of the tanks as many modelers choose to do … I just have fun putting one together straight out of the box (although I do paint with an accurate color). Click here to see a photo of a different model of T-34 tank that I built … (Remember: Click on the small image for a bigger version – then click on that one for the full-size photo.)
