For this year, I’m going with the reminder of the fractured phrase: Hooray for Hollyweird! Most of us love movies and I enjoy recommending what you should watch on any given day. So, Hooray for Hollyweird … and for today’s recommendation, let’s check out what I consider to be Steven Seagal’s best flick: “Under Siege.”
Domestic terrorists have a plot to steal nuclear weapons from a U.S. battleship that is headed to be decommissioned after ceremonies in Hawaii commemorating the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941.
With “Under Siege,” you have Seagal as a mysterious “cook” aboard the battleship and he winds up leading a ragtag bunch (aren’t all the good guys’ group’s usually described as “ragtag?”) against the terrorists. The group’s primary member is the woman who jumped topless out of a cake during a “party” that was used to help in the takeover of the battleship.

Tommy Lee Jones does a good job as the mercenary leader who has been marked for death by his old employer (the CIA) and is assisted by Gary Busey’s character, who is even more psychotic than Jones’ character.
In “Under Siege,” Seagal does his expected personality of a having a mild, quiet demeanor … except when he’s kicking someone’s ass (and they always deserve a good ass-kicking). He’s also OK in one-on-one scenes and while never near Oscar-quality, he’s watchable and doesn’t fumble the role.
You’ll figure out all the twists and turns long before they happen and you know the good guys come out winners in this one … so that’s not a spoiler alert.
So, there you have it. “Under Siege” … it’s a streaming world … find it and then you’ll definitely say … “Hooray for Hollyweird!”
