The demolition of existing homes to make way for a “megahome” has gone on here in Naples, Fla., for many decades. I got these shots of the aftermath of the demolition of a home that just sold for $1 million in February. The photos were taken June 3, 2025. Entire neighborhoods get razed one residence at a time until the entire community has been transformed. The Four Seasons development next to our neighborhood has
been ripe for redevelopment: all lots are one-acre; the area is up-scale (starting prices are near $1 million and go to more than $2 million); the area is convenient to … well, everything; and there’s no homeowners association to run things. One major downside remains: there is no municipal water or sewer service. All the homes use wells for drinking and irrigation and each has a septic tank.
