We’re at the beginning of the summer of 2025 and I’m continuing the fractured phrase: Hooray for Hollyweird! Most of us love movies and I enjoy recommending what you should watch on any given day. So, Hooray for Hollyweird … and for today’s recommendation, let’s take a look at “Caddyshack II” as one of the best examples of how NOT to make a sequel as well as an example of how two iconic comedy stars can do something on-screen so trashy that it should have been left on the cutting room floor.

“Caddyshack II” is pure garbage from the moment you: a) step into the theater … or b) just turn your tee-vee on. A steaming pile at least has steam … this is nothing more than the pile and virtually every actor from Jackie Mason to Marsha Warfield to Dan Aykroyd to Chevy Chase to Dyan Cannon and to Randy Quaid should have had a suspension of their Screen Actors Guild cards of at least five years.

Of course, “Caddyshack II” tried to recreate the comedy magic of the original golf comedy instant classic, but it was eight years later and only Hollywood stupidity and greed pulling the trigger to throw this against a wall to see if it would stick. Well, the smelly parts stuck and we’re stuck with simply that the sequel was made. I don’t know how it even was able to rank 82nd at the domestic box office.

Damn, it’s a bad movie.

Mason and every other actor should be ashamed to have been offered a part in “Caddyshack II,” but most of all Aykroyd: He does such a pathetic job with such a pathetic character that it is nearly unbelievable that any professional would have first, taken the role, and second, played it the way he does. Chase, too, stinks to high heaven, but does have a couple of good lines.

I don’t want to write any more about this cinema wasteland, so I’ll leave it to your discretion … we’re in a streaming day and you can find “Caddyshack II” and then you’ll definitely say … “Hooray for Hollyweird!”
