We’re near the beginning of the fall season for 2025 and I’m continuing the fractured phrase: Hooray for Hollyweird! Most of us love movies and I enjoy recommending what you should watch on any given day. So, Hooray for Hollyweird … and for today’s recommendation, let’s watch “Big Trouble” with Tim Allen and Rene Russo and just about the best supporting cast of all time.
“Big Trouble” was supposed to have a premiere in 2001, but the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks put that off until 2002. By that time, the production’s marketing budget had been cut and so had any chance for most to see it.
If you haven’t, then get “Big Trouble” streaming immediately! It is one of the five-best underappreciated films of the past 50 years!
Combined, the supporting cast of “Big Trouble” far outdoes the headliners. From Stanley Tucci to Zooey Deschanel to Dennis Farina and especially to Jeanne Garofalo, who appears to be out of character for her, but manages a tremendous performance and knocks an out-of-the-park homerun with it.
I’d try to describe the plot, but it would take too long. Look, just go to my review. It is the longest review I’ve written, but it contains everything you need to know from toe-licking to living in a tree to nuclear bombs, Martha Stewart’s head on a dog and outstanding teenager sarcasm from Deschanel.
“Big Trouble” is taken from legendary author/columnist/humorist Dave Barry and he as an uncredited part as “lawyer.”
You simply must see “Big Trouble.” In this streaming day and age and will enjoy it … and then you’ll definitely say … “Hooray for Hollyweird!”
