I cannot believe I allowed it to happen, but the battery ran completely down in my Nikon D5200 DSLR (digital single-lens reflex camera body). It’s somewhat of a minor tragedy because I’m using my Nikon fewer and fewer times. When I’m out and for most of my blog photos, I use my iPhone – which has improved its picture quality over the years. However, I’m a thoroughgoing fan of Nikon cameras and lenses, from the first F2 model that my parents bought me in the 1970s (a Nikon single-lens reflex camera was the first into orbit with the U.S. space program in the 1960s). I’ll get back on track with my D5200 (Nikon has stopped all development of DSLR camera bodies). I got this shot at our home here in Naples, Fla., on April 13, 2026.
