Welcome back to my blog. Here’s my recommendation of a movie to check out today and hope you punch your “Ticket to the Movies!” OK, today, let’s delve into a kids flick comedy called “Big Fat Liar” that co-stars Frankie Muniz, Amanda Bynes and Paul Giamatti.
I’m not a big fan of the “kids are always smarter than adults” flicks, but some are done well and “Big Fat Liar” is a good example. Also, the film is boosted by the performance of actor’s actor Giamatti, who brings verve and energy to a character that could have been forgotten five minutes after you see the film.

In “Big Fat Liar,” you get Muniz as a boy who is a congenital liar. He lies just about everything to just about everyone. Of course, as the protagonist in the story, he’s the coolest and smoothest person in every scene. However, Bynes holds her own in the perky-cute department and makes a nice foil for Muniz.
The story of “Big Fat Liar” is that Muniz has written a story called “Big Fat Liar.” It’s a school punishment assignment and Giamatti, a wickedly obnoxious movie producer, steals it from him. Don’t bother to ask the circumstance … just go with the flow here.

Well, the focus of “Big Fat Liar” is Muniz trying to force Giamatti to admit to everyone that he stole the story from Frankie. Giamatti doesn’t want to do it, because it has become the story for his new film.
Cue the stereotypes in Hollywood on soundstages, but a few are pretty funny. I enjoy the swimming pool scene where Muniz and Bynes put blue dye in Giamatti’s pool and turn him into someone looking like an extra in the “Blue Man Group.” Also neatly done is them messing with Giamatti’s car’s computer system (a scene ahead of its time since the film was released in 2002.
Of course, all works out well for Muniz and, by extension, Bynes and doesn’t end well for Giamatti. Big surprise.
So, I say punch your “Ticket to the Movies!” and you can easily find “Big Fat Liar” is available for rent or purchase on several streaming services. So, find it! Watch it! Don’t worry, you’ll thank me later for “Big Fat Liar.”
