Welcome back to my blog. Here’s my recommendation of a movie to check out today and hope you punch your “Ticket to the Movies!” OK, let’s go with “The Dukes of Hazzard” starring Johnny Knoxville, Seann William Scott and Jessica Simpson. Here is one of the few “reboots” of an iconic tee-vee show that is watchable.

Further, you get a nice slice of solid supporting cast work from a variety of acting styles from Burt Reynolds to Willie Nelson to Lynda Carter and the entire “Broken Lizard” comedy troupe, with Jay Chandrasekhar in the director’s chair. They all work and fit nicely together and this helps make the film watchable.
I understand why the original television show cast wouldn’t appreciate the reboot, but “The Dukes of Hazzard” has some clever and hilarious moments and, for the most part, stays true to the original. Sadly, you cannot say the same about many “reboots” of popular shows and movies.

In any case, with “The Dukes of Hazzard” you get the basic story: The “Duke boys” are out running moonshine and trying to get a handle on the latest scheme by “Boss Hogg” (Reynolds). In the film, he’s looking to strip-mine the fictional “Hazzard County” in Georgia and the boys set out to stop him with help of Nelson and their cousin “Daisy” (Simpson in the character’s venerable short-shorts).
Along the way, the “Dukes” get assistance from an assortment of kooks from a backwoods demolition “expert” to a mechanic focused on the “Dukes’” car and Carter as Nelson’s significant other.
So, I say punch your “Ticket to the Movies!” and you can easily find “The Dukes of Hazzard,” but you’ll have to rent or purchase via one of several streaming services. So, find it! Watch it! Don’t worry, you’ll thank me later for “The Dukes of Hazzard.”
