Each April 24 is national Pigs in a Blanket Day (and today is Friday, April 24, 2026) and I’m celebrating with a few today myself! “Pigs in a blanket,” alongside the even more favored “chips and dip,” has historically one of our niece’s favorite foods. While modern history notes that a Betty Crocker cookbook for children popularized pigs in a blanket in 1957, some historians note the appetizer might have its roots in ancient China and Asia in how those cultures prepared wrapped food. Although they’re called “pigs in a blanket” in a generic way, I’m enjoying these Hebrew National Beef Franks in a Puff Pastry Blanket! These are kosher, so you won’t find any pigs in these blankets! I got this shot at our home here in Naples, Fla., today, as the delightful appetizer was headed to the oven.
